Under development for 18 months, VistaDB 5.0 includes a new query optimizer that can dramatically reduce query times while improving compatibility with Microsoft's SQL Server syntax. Improvements in Entity Framework support, including a custom provider optimized for EF 6, make it even easier to develop for VistaDB or SQL Server and select the database engine you want to use at runtime. This level of extensive cross-compatibility is unique to VistaDB and makes it easy to scale down applications designed for large database engines to the desktop, removing all the deployment headaches of SQL Server.
